I've realized over the past few days that I haven't done real justice to an lj entry in several months. I suppose I should feel really guilty about that, but the way I see it, I've just been saving everything up to do one slammin' update.

For the moment (at least for the next week) I have two jobs. I work on campus at AU (obvy) as well as Barnes and Noble in Georgetown. I've been working at b&n for about a month now and it's going about as well as work can go. My dear friend/roommate Helena helped me out with getting the job and has been showing me the ropes for the past couple of weeks. Side note: If you ever ask me to make you a frappuccino I'll straight up murder your ass.

I now live in an apartment! Despite the fact that it's completely furnished from IKEA (possibly the best place ever), I consider it to be my first real person room. Moving out of the dorms did, however, evoke strong emotions and memories of assassins games and terrifying ra's. But despite all of these things I'm still pumped to be living in somewhere that is not the dorms.

Along with my shiny new apartment is a shiny new cat named Jack. Jack is a jackass. While cute and snugly at times, Jack's behavior mostly consists of trying to mess up/burrow into/ claw to death whatever you happen to be doing at the time. And because he's not afraid of water, there's little that Helena and I can do to discourage him from this destructive behavior. If anyone has any suggestions we would be truly greatful

That's pretty much the major points for now. I'm going to go back to sitting here at the desk and protecting McDowell from, well, nothing at all. That's just how awesome this job is.

    <lj:music>the west wing: the complete 6th season</lj:music>

So I know that I made this entry in January, but I thought I'd do it again now that I'm back:
If you KNOW that you haven't given me your cell number since my phone broke in January, I need it.

My ability to tie together a coherent lj entry is stunted, mostly because of jet lag, so I feel a +/- entry is in order:

(-/+)After four months of basically sitting on my ass and doing nothing, I'm back in the United States. Reverse culture shock is a very strange thing, especially when a Starbucks woman hands you a new ten dollar bill (that nobody told you about) and you proceed to have a breakdown over your iced chai latte.

(-)My room is an absolute mess, which is a little weird since I'm living out of suitcases until my parents get here with all of my crap on Saturday. Because of that, I can't really clean, or for that matter, put anything anywhere because I don't have any of my handy dandy Container Store things :-(

(+)I've been blessed with American television once again. Seriously, you don't realize how magnificent is really is until it's gone. I watched My Super Sweet 16 today for about 5 hours.

    <lj:music>The Fix is In---Ok Go</lj:music>

So I´m extremely bored, sitting in an internet cafe, and being overcharged. So I figured that I´d at least update to say I accomplished something today.

We got back from Morocco like two weeks ago, which was amazing. Except that everyone got constipated, which I guess is what we get for traveling to a third world country. This week is our spring break (aka Holy Week) and so we went to Ibiza for the first part of it, and now all we´re doing is hanging around Madrid. Where there is NOBODY and EVERYTHING is closed. My activities for the past three days have consisted of waking up, reading, eating, reading some more, watching CNN International, reading, eating dinner, reading, and then going to bed. I´ve never wanted to have work to do more in my entire life. However tonight Jason Sliverman´s señora has invited some of us over to her house for a Sex and the City pizza party, which is amazing/I hope it´s in english.

I randomly got pink eye two days ago, which seems to have thrown me for a loop. I didn´t have my contact case or solution with me, so my señora had to boil shot glasses and put mineral water in them for storage until the contact store opens on Tuesday. Then I had to go to the pharmacy for medicine. That wouldn´t have been so bad if "pink eye" was what this disease was called in spanish. No no, that would have just been TOO easy. But eventually I got my point across and I have eye drops that are doing something (hopefully).

On a more positive note, I sense the summer getting closer and closer. In just a little over a month from right now, I will make my glorious return to the United States and precede to have the most bangin´summer ever had. You guys better get ready.

Seriously

Today, in an effort to make facebook less creepy for me, I unfriended everyone I actually don't know. Although I felt really bitchy while I was doing it, I reminded myself that it isn't emotionally healthy to have internet friendships with people who, as far as I'm concerned, don't exist. So to any of you who are at the brunt of my "unfriend-a-thon", I'm truly sorry.

Last night I was going through my pictures and I found one that I mean to post and rant about. Two weeks ago, we went to Córdoba in southern Spain. In Córdoba, there is a cathedral, which used to be a mosque, which used to be a church. In other words, a house of a very confused God. Anywho, we were walking to the mosque, when we saw this:

There was, I shit you not, a mosque Burger King

Now I'm all about free markets and capitalism, but even I think this is going a little far.

I've been sitting in front of my computer for about 2 hours and I couldn't motivate myself to write a real lj entry. So instead I'm bullet-pointing my life since my last entry. You got a problem with that? i didn't think so.

-Went to Andalucia this past weekend and was cold. Saw some mosques, ate some kick ass kebab, rode a horse. Good times were had by all

-I'm fighting a continual battle with the internet at school that i might be loosing. I just can't understand why something as simple as the internet can't just work all the time

-Meg and RVR are coming to visit me next week and I couldn't be more excited

-I'm reading the 6th Harry Potter book in Spanish

-I continue to miss Franky like whoa, someone give him a hug and kiss for me, but not on the lips, and that's a far as you're allowed to go

Plans for March:
10-14: Meg and RVR do Madrid 06'
17-20: Amsterdam
25-31: Morocco

    <lj:music>watching the American President</lj:music>

I opened the music store in iTunes today to find that Pink (what?!) has one of the top ten songs. This bothers me on a level I can't describe in words. I refuse to even listen to it, as I'm sure it's pure trash.

I've been in Spain for exactly one month today. I feel like I've been here for a day, but at the same time the semester is a fourth over with. I'm heavy missing people back in the US, but that's to be expected I suppose.

I did absolutely nothing this weekend, except drunk dial Meg and Franky early saturday morning. I read two paperbacks and then on sunday night, I watched The Rock in spanish. It was far more hilarious dubbed, as Mr. Connery sounded more like a spanish Clint Eastwood.

So today is Valentine´s Day

I thought that, because this is the first V-day that I´ve actually had a valentine, it would be better. But it def isn´t.

Probs because my bf is about 3000 miles away, which I guess is sort of my fault.

<3/:-(
